What & Why?
The Run the Runway 5K is a unique opportunity for the entire community to experience Baxter County Airport up close. Runners and walkers will travel a route normally reserved for airplanes. The event is designed to bring the airport and community together while highlighting the important role Baxter County Airport plays with proceeds benefiting the Leading Edge Aviation Foundation .

Pickup on race day!  Starting at 6:30 am.
We will also accept on-site registrations at this time.

Course Description
Two laps around the beautiful ASUMH campus!

We'll start in front of The Sheid and end in the center of campus at the Keller fountain.  The course is essentially two laps of walking trail that circles ASUMH with one aid station at the half way point with HEED by Hammer & water.

This race will also have a unique finish that runners are sure to remember!  

Instructions:

Athletes will check in at the center of campus at the Keller Fountain.

After pre-race announcements we’ll walk together to the race start.

Runners will run clock-wise, entering the ASUMH walking path at mile 0.2.  Runners will complete one lap, passing the aid station, before heading out for lap two.  Volunteers and signs will point runners back to the center of campus to finish to finish at the Keller Fountain. 

Runners may push strollers or pull wagons, however children may NOT tag along on bicycles, scooters, skates, etc.

The Run the Runway 5K is more than just a race—it’s a unique opportunity for the entire community to experience Baxter County Airport up close. Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities can choose a 5K or 1-mile course and travel a route normally reserved for airplanes. Along the way, participants can meet the people who fly and work in aviation, learn more about the airport, and enjoy a one-of-a-kind fall Saturday morning.

The event is designed to bring the airport and community together while highlighting the important role Baxter County Airport plays in our area. Beyond aviation, the airport supports local businesses, provides critical access for emergency and medical services, and serves as a gateway for visitors to our community. Whether you’re an aviation enthusiast, introducing a young person to flight, or simply curious about what happens at your local airport, come run, walk and explore—and discover just how much your airport has to offer.

You’ll be running for a great cause that brings benefits directly to Baxter County residents. Proceeds from the event support aviation scholarships through the Leading Edge Aviation Foundation (LEAF), a non-profit 501(c)(3).  Awarding scholarships to local students since 2023, LEAF provides aviation career development assistance for students grades 6-12 and graduates entering the aerospace industry.
